Back in our old country, in the villages with cobblestone streets, there was always a Bakaliko. The village Bakaliko was a meeting point for villagers; a café and one-stop shop for everyday grocery items and specialty food items. The specialty food items were typically traded from other villages or brought from the sea traders. These items were one of a kind and purchased for special occasions.
